BCOCC

The BCOCC (Border Control Operational Coordinating Committee)website provides this governmental department with a powerful database-driven web portal. The website includes a dynamic, searchable GIS map, a robust content management system and agile reporting tools.

The Border Control Operational Coordinating Committee (BCOCC) was established by the JCPS Director’s-General cluster to address the coordinated management of the border environment of South Africa. The Border Control Operational Coordinating Committee (BCOCC) is comprised of 11 Departments each a stakeholder in the border control environment for South Africa. Of the 11 represented Government Departments 6 Departments are actively operational at ports of entry namely:

  • South African Revenue Service (SARS)
  • Department of Home Affairs (DHA)
  • South African Police Service (SAPS)
  • National Intelligence Agency (NIA)
  • Department of Agriculture (DOA)
  • Department of Health (DOH)

The above Departments each perform an operational role at the ports of entry and operations are often integrated between Departments. Departments further share various facilities required for line function operations. For this reason it is recommended to view the requirements of all Departments as consolidated BCOCC User Department requirements rather than isolated requirements for each Department.

The web application spatially presents all ports of entry to South Africa allowing a user to select one where after the selected port of entry is spatially show overlying the satellite image of the port of entry. Features can be selected identifying their attributes.
